Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a serious global health threat that is due to the improper or overuse in the hospital and in the community settings.
In line with the global action plan, the WHO WPRO initiated the development of the Western Pacific Regional Antimicrobial Consumption Surveillance System (WPRACSS) in 2019. There are mobile applications for real-time capture of information and web-based system information with aggregate data upload mechanism. Features include news updates, and customizable reports with data visualization in charts and map to locate areas of the consumed or dispensed medicines. It aims to increase multi-stakeholder accountability, and strengthen stewardship of antimicrobials to combat AMR and promote Universal Health Coverage and Sustainable Development Goals.
